Modifiers
Select a block, linked template or group and choose Add modifier > Linear Array, Radial Array or Mirror. Modifiers keep their source editable and show their generated copies in Top View, Scene and builds. Clicking a copy selects its source. A wrench beside a hierarchy name identifies a modifier stack.
Work with a stack
Cards apply from top to bottom. Each modifier consumes the completed result of the card above it, so order changes the result. A Mirror after a radial array reflects every preceding copy across one plane in the original owner's frame.
- Use a card's checkbox to enable or disable it; click its title to collapse it. Collapsing also hides its editing guides.
- Drag the grip to reorder cards. The insertion line previews the destination; Esc cancels. With the grip focused, ↑/↓ moves the card.
- Click ×, or right-click a non-input part of the card and choose Remove, to remove it.
- Apply converts that card and all cards above it into editable objects, retaining the cards below it and the visible result. The operation supports Undo.
Locked owners cannot edit, remove or apply modifiers. Invalid values show an error instead of replacing the last valid generated geometry.
Modifiers use the owner's shared pivot; there is no separate Pivot input on each card. Change it in Transform > Pivot. On a group, the shared pivot transforms the complete group. On a linked template, the stack repeats the full template, including nested modules and local cuts, without editing the shared source.
Linear Array
Count includes the original: 1 means no extra copy. Use a value from 1 to 256, type it or drag the label. Count can also use a Number variable; see Level defaults and variables.
Offset (m) is the translation between consecutive copies. Enable Local direction to follow the source's rotation; disable it to use the containing level's axes.
When the card is expanded, its guide connects the owner pivot to the first offset. Drag that handle in Top View to change X/Z, or hold Shift from the start of the drag to change Y. Scene provides three-axis handles. Fields update as you drag; snapping, Undo and Esc cancellation apply. A short or zero offset places the screen handle beside the pivot so both remain accessible.
Scale progression
Enable Scale to resize successive copies around the owner pivot. Progression chooses how each component of the scale changes:
| Progression | With step/multiplier 2 | With step/multiplier 1.1 |
|---|---|---|
| Linear | 1, 2, 3, 4… | 1, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3… |
| Exponential | 1, 2, 4, 8… | 1, 1.1, 1.21, 1.331… |
1 keeps the original size. The card previews the progression. A decreasing progression that reaches zero or a negative size reports the first invalid copy; reduce Count or change the scale step.
For solid stairs, start with a block whose pivot is at its base, offset each copy horizontally by one tread, and use a linear Y scale step of 2. The copies then share the base while their heights grow evenly.
Radial Array
The shared owner pivot is the center of rotation. Move it in the Pivot tab to set the radius between the source geometry and the array center.
Sweep (°) sets the arc. A full 360° circle omits the duplicate endpoint; negative values reverse direction. Offset (m) still adds translation per copy, and Local direction chooses its frame. A Y offset combined with a radial sweep can form a helix.
Radial arrays provide the same Count, Scale and Randomize options as linear arrays. Change Layout to switch between the two arrangements.
Randomize copies
Enable Randomize on either array layout and choose:
- Seed for a repeatable result.
- Position ± (m) for independent displacement ranges.
- Rotation Y ± (°) for rotation variation.
- Scale ± for scale variation as a fraction; 0.1 means up to 10%.
The original remains unchanged. The same settings and seed produce the same copies in previews, builds and template instances.
Mirror
A Mirror keeps the source and adds a reflection. Axis selects its local X/Z direction or the level's Y direction. Move the plane with the axis position/distance field or its arrow handle. The plane's offset is relative to the owner's pivot; on a group the field is named Distance X/Y/Z (m).
The expanded guide connects the pivot to the plane. Dragging changes only the chosen axis; in Top View, a vertical drag adjusts a Y plane. Snapping, Undo and Esc cancellation apply. Changing Axis resets the plane to the owner pivot, and Undo restores its previous axis and position.
This differs from the toolbar's Mirror X/Z actions, which flip editable geometry directly.
Copy modifier settings
Right-click a non-input area of a card to Copy modifier, then use Paste as new modifier on another card to insert it after that card. Right-click the modifier section to Copy modifiers or append them with Paste as new modifiers.
Paste values updates matching existing modifiers rather than adding cards. It is available only when the copied and target modifiers have compatible types and, for a complete stack, matching counts. Numeric and text fields retain their normal text-editing context menus. Paste supports Undo and respects locks.
Limits
Each Array supports at most 256 instances, including the source. A block's evaluated stack supports at most 512 results; repeated modifiers multiply the number of copies. Deeply nested templates and group modifiers can also exceed build limits. Reduce counts or simplify stacks when the editor reports too many instances.
